Summary: Set at a time during a time when the world is encountering an energy crisis. Having exhausted the majority of the world's fossil fuel reserves, the entire world now leans heavily upon the power of solar energy. This power is supplied by three major power plants orbiting the earth referred to as the "major powers" in the series. These power plants supply infinite energy to the world which would seem to make everyone happy, but it is actually otherwise. Only the three major Unions in control of the power plants thrived and those who didn't were buried in poverty. This contrast in energy abundance leads to world chaos. To unite the world, 4 Gundams were created by a military organization called the Celestial Beings.
